Bought this kettle because of all the good reviews, however after it arrived and we boiled the water it tasted funny, like antiseptic, we boiled It numerous times with fresh water and every time the same.. it’s like the plastic lining of the kettle is tainting the taste of the water, you can smell it when you tip the water out. We are having to return it and purchase a different one.. Do Not Buy as it makes the water taste like antiseptic.

Did not last more than 2 monthsThere was a leak that caused it to trip my mains every time I put it on therefore stopped using it. No response yet from Russell Hobbs as usual even if it says 2 years warranty. Looks like a faulty product sold at cut price.Is amazon equally responsible for bad customer services as it’s sold through you?If so I need some sought of response to compensate for this!!This would be my first ever bad review for a product bought from amazon as it’s unaceeptable.Thanks, but won’t be buying more of Russell Hobbs.

It is practical and functional. Ok for price. Takes about 10 boils to get rid of the taste of plastic in your hot drink.

I've had my kettle 10 days now and I am still having to empty it of water that has already been boiled. There continues to be a nasty, chemical taste unless I boil with fresh water every time.

The manufacturer must coat the inside of this kettle with some kind of preservative because it gives the water a horrible taste. I must have boiled the thing at least a dozen times and it still tasted foul. Took it back in the end and bought a cookworks one and had no problem with it.

All plastic disgusting taste we had this kettle for a weeI it’s spoilt the taste of food i.e. rice spaghetti. A whole week Of tainted coffee and tea got to a point and took it back and spent more money on something else. So the moral of the story is you get what you pay for.

I don't like the way the water takes like plastic like the cheaper kettles. I bought this as a replacement because my glass kettle leaked and regretted it. I have now bought a more expensive stainless steel one that is so much better.

None. The plastic used for the inside is clearly not foodsafe and water still tastes if plastic after a month’s use.

Looks lovely but we had to stop drinking hot drinks after a week of trying as the water tasted of plastic despite several boils a day. Had to return and exchange for a cheaper one that' looks the same and was cheaper

Beware - it is almost impossible to get rid of the chemical 'TCP' taste that this kettle gives to the water, caused by the plastics used reacting with chlorine in the water. The usual bicarbonate of soda trick failed to shift the poor water quality so returned it for refund.

Had this kettle before and had no issues.. Water had a plastic/ chemical taste that wouldn’t go away. Returned!

Arrived really quickly and we filled it and boiled it several times before use, but unfortunately we can't get rid of the awful plastic taste. We persevered with it for nearly a week, but it still has a horrible taste - so we had to return it. Shame really because it has a nice design and is lightweight if a little noisy.

I had to return this as after 11 days of use "still" when you made a cup of tea or coffee there was a horrible plastic / chemical taste. This was surprising as the defunct kettle that it replaced was the exact same model that we had used for years! I have now bought a different make one. I have noticed a few other comments on here saying the same thing.

Very noisy, takes long time to boil and awful taste when water boiled despite following instructions and numerous boils and rinses. Really disappointed. Took it back to exchange for different make and model - much better

its very noisy. sounds like a fire work going off at times. very loud crackles. It is quick though, compared to our old kettle. after a couple of boils there is no residual taste detectable. Its also very light!

I boiled water twice and emptied as the instructions said. I then made a pot of tea- there is a funny after taste. This has happened with every cup/ pot of normal / fruit tea I have made this week.Avoid this product.

The kettle looks good but is noisy in operation and seems slow to boil.I haven't cleaned it yet but I think it will be awkward as there are screws just inside the lid holding the plastic to the metal.If I had seen it in the metal, I wouldn't have chosen it.

We bought this kettle and after doing what the instructions said about boiling and discarding the water for the first two or three boils it tasted and smelt of tcp even after six to eight boils . We took it back from were purchased and got a replacement . ( the same make ) but unfortunately this kettle was no different so again took it back and replaced with a different make . At last a nice cup of coffee .
